Dermaplaning

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a form of manual exfoliation similar in theory to microdermabrasion but without the use of suction or abrasive crystals. Your Esthetician will use a medical-grade scalpel to gently remove dead skin cells and that unwanted peach fuzz. This is a painless treatment that has very minimal side affects including light redness right afterwards.

What are the Benefits of Dermaplaning?

As with other methods of professional exfoliation, dermaplaning allows your skincare products to be better absorbed by your skin, therefore being more effective. Dermaplaning also has the added benefits of reducing the appearance of fine lines, evening skin tone and assisting with the reduction of milia, blackheads, whiteheads and congestion associated with breakouts. A unique benefit of dermaplaning is the temporary removal of vellus hair that most clients find unsightly. This leaves your skin completely smooth and ready to absorb your favorite skincare products.

Why should I choose Dermaplaning?

This method of exfoliation is great for clients that have coupersose (tiny blood vessels near the surface of the skin), sensitive skin or allergies that prevent them from using microdermabrasion and chemical peels. If you are looking for completely smooth skin that is hair-free this is also a great option. As far as intensity of exfoliation, dermaplaning falls in between microdermabrasion and chemical peels, chemical peels being the most intense. As always, consultations are complimentary.

Post-Treatment/Home Care

Aerobic exercise or vigorous physical activity should be avoided until all redness has subsided. Direct sunlight

exposure is to be completely avoided immediately following the treatment (including any strong UV light exposure or

tanning beds). Although SPF 30+ should already be a part of your daily skin care, after dermaplaning, SPF 30+ must

be applied daily to the treated area for a minimum of two weeks. Twice daily cleanse the treated area with a post treatment cleanser, followed by a serum or treatment cream and follow with SPF 30+ sunscreen.
